Born in Guangzhou in 1945, Leung Kui Ting is one of Hong Kong's leading modernist ink painters. He studied in the 1960s with Lui Shou-Kwan, who was one of the very first Chinese artists anywhere to move the classical Chinese ink painting tradition firmly into the realm of abstraction.

Leung Kui Ting has experimented with many different styles since then, although his deep reverence for nature and the rocks, trees, and mountains that have long been the subject of the literati painters over the past 600 years have remained his principal interest.

He is currently serving as Director of Chingying Institute of Visual Arts and Honorary Adviser Consultant of Hong Kong Museum of Art.
