
Born in 1969 in Taipei and coming of age in the 1990s, Yao Jui-chung is one of the most prolific art practitioners of his generation from Taiwan. As an artist, his work includes installation, photography, performance, video, works on paper and sculpture. His adversity, driven by his boundless energy and determination, can only be compared to a few of his peers. Yao is also a curator, art critic and art historian who is passionately promoting Taiwanese contemporary art domestically and internationally. He teaches at the Taipei National University of the Arts and has represented Taiwan in "Facing Faces-Taiwan" at the Venice Biennale and International Triennale of Contemporary Art Yokohama 2005.
