Wu Mingzhong

Wu Mingzhong was born in Hebei Province in 1963 and graduated from the Hebei Normal University in 1988. Wu Mingzhong's paintings depict both Chinese and Western politicians whom he transforms into plastic-like figures and freezes them in critical moments of victory or defeat. By satirizing intellectuals, Wu Mingzhong also calls attention to the importance of politics and international relations as China's influence in the global sphere steadily rises. Wu Mingzhong was the visiting scholar at Liebin Academy of Fine Arts in Russia as well as Buffalo State College in New York in 2005 and he has also exhibited in the Second Beijing Biennale and the New Chinese Contemporary Art exhibit in Seoul, Korea in 2005.
