Song Hua

Song Hua was born in 1962 in Jiangsu Province and trained at the prestigious Nanjing Academy of Fine Arts. By 1994, Song Hua achieved worldwide recognition when Jacques Chirac acquired his painting, Bird and Flower. Indifferent to the imperatives of contemporary experimental art and unswayed by the siren voices of fashion, Song Hua continues to explore the possibilities of the long tradition of Chinese bird and flower painting while remaining mindful of the need to make art that is meaningful and relevant to the modern world.
