Liu Xuguang 刘旭光

Born in Beijing in 1958, Liu Xuguang studied abroad in Japan and received his Master of Arts from Qiyu University in Tokyo and his PhD in the Department of Fine Arts at Qinghua University. He has become recognized as one of the leading abstract painters of his generation, using ink, paint, and mineral substances to paint layers of simple symbols in strict minimal structures. He is currently Director of the New-Media Lab in the Department of Fine Art at the Beijing Film Academy.
