Li Shurui 李淑睿

Li Shurui was born in Chongqing in 1981 and graduated from the Sichuan Fine Arts Institute. Rejecting the classical training she received at the prestigious oil painting department of the Institute, Li began to experiment with installation art and moved onto using airbrushing techniques in 2002. She moved to Beijing two years later. She intends to make seemingly cheap images based on the photographs of light shows in clubs that she takes with her cell phone. Painting these cheap images with an airbrush, Li has presented in her works a social commentary on consumerism.
