Li Jin, born in Tianjin, China in 1958, is an internationally exhibited ink painter known for his charming figural scenes and delicate ink washes. He is praised for his use of lively, spontaneous brushstrokes, but is also a master of the traditional Chinese gongbi painting technique, which calls for meticulous ngs by coupling playfully loose brushstrokes with the precisely applied facial expressions that have become his signature. The calligraphy that accompanies each scene represents the artist's humorous reflections on daily life in China. Li Jin is currently a professor of Chinese painting at the Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts.
