
InkGu Wenda was born in Shanghai, China, in 1955. The New York-based artist has become one of the most high-profile members of the Chinese diaspora, his prominence fuelled by a combination of talent and drive with an affinity for controversy. The enormous scope of his vision is unique- conceiving of his artwork as existing over time and space and not constrained by convention, language, or national boundaries. Since 1981, Gu Wenda has participated in numerous solo and international group exhibitions. His art has also been widely discussed and reviewed by important international and national newspapers, magazines, as well as in recent art history books and he is represented in numerous public and private collections.
