Ge Guanzhong 葛冠中

Ge Guanzhong was born in 1977 and received his BFA from Harbin Normal University in 2000 and his MFA from Xu Beihong Art College of Renmin University of China in 2008. He is one of the best of the young graduates emerging from the elite art academies of China, and who, as is always still the case, was meticulously trained as a traditional ink painter, but who has shifted his style and subject matter to reflect the massive changes in Chinese society.

He does this through his aggressive use of colors and his distortion of classical subject matter – landscapes, townscapes, etc – to reflect the disintegration of China as it was.
