Cui Xiuwen 崔岫闻

Cui Xiuwen was born in Heilongjiang Province in 1970 and graduated from the Northeast Normal University in nearby Jilin Province. Since completing her degree at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing, she has worked in a wide range of media, including oil painting, video and photography, often engaging themes of sexuality and gender as well as the blurred boundary between public and private. Her work has been exhibited at numerous museums, most notably at the International Center of Photography and the Asia Society in New York, the Tate Modern in London and the Pompidou Center in Paris.
